Watching Telly: Britain's Got Talent (The Final 45)

The Final 45 were revealed earlier tonight. With tradition on the British show. The judges tend to have a mixture of good and crap acts for the semi finals. With the crap acts, it's a decent excuse to use the buzzer. As some websites have released the list of acts for the five semi finals. Here they are grouped into three categories.

Singing Acts

Bosom Buddies (cross dressing opera singers)
Jack and Cormac (young singer and guitar duo)
Chasing the Dream (musical singers)
MCBoy (rapper, beat singer. Similar to the vein of DJ Talent and Zipparah Tafari)
Gabrielle Gardiner (young piano player and singer who sang like a rapper)
Aliki Chrysochou (the one who confessed was at death's door)
Rosie O’Sullivan (plump singer, similar to Michelle McManus and Alison Moyet)
Meat Diva (double act who changes clothes and singers between songs, sung as a medley)
Modupe (singer and guitar player)
The Band of Voices (acapella group)
Maarty Broekman (that Dutch guy who is dressed like someone in the 1980s and plays a handheld keyboard)
J - Unity (singer and guitar duo)
Alex Keir (singer who failed to get through on The Voice UK)
Robbie Kennedy (guitar player and singer)
Arixsandra Libantino (11 year old who sang One Night Only)
Incognito (choir who sing from different places on the stage)
Alice Fredenham (Amy Winehouse-like singer who failed to get through on this year's The Voice UK)
Richard & Adam (sandwich maker opera singers)
Luminites (street band)
Asanda (11 year old who sang Diamonds)
Jordan O’Keefe (guitar player and singer)

Total = 21

Dance Acts

CEO Dancers (three piece dance group)
Poppin’ Ron (body popper)
Joseph Hall (solo dancer who won Strictly Dance Fever some years ago)
Youth Creation (young dance troupe)
Martin Healy (the one who danced with a fake nun to Edelweiss)
Club Town Freaks (the group with the weird costumes you would get from LMAFO)
Pre Skool (young dance troupe, similar to Nu Skool)
Shockarellas (dance troupe)
MD Productions (theatrical dance troupe, making their THIRD appearance from seven series on the semi finals)
The Glambassadors (camp dance group)
Martin & Marielle (gymnastic style dance duo)
AJ & Chloe (risqué dance duo)
Attraction (shadow dancers and the bookie's favourite to win it)

Total = 13

Variety Acts

Freelusion (rhythmic four piece group who produces 3D effects)
Steve Hewlett (ventriloquist)
Rob & Craig (duelling piano duo)
James Moore (illusionist)
Jack Carroll (young comedian)
Stevie Pink (illusionist who has got a fake cat)
Thomas Bounce (bounce juggler)
Phillip Green (impressionist who can do the splits like Louie Spence)
Francine Lewis (impressionist who has appeared on Channel 4's Very Important People)
MCKNASTY (drummer who is related to Labrinth)
Aaron Crow (mentalist who chopped a pineapple off Ant's head)

Total = 11

The biggest problem the semi finals this year, which no doubt applies to previous years. There are too many singers contesting to win. There are 21 out of 45 acts available. Making nearly half the total. Also worth noting that 5 acts from the 21 also use the guitar. Wouldn't surprise me if one guitar act appears on each semi final. This could lead to a dangerous thing. we could have an all singing final on 8th June.

Another major complaint is the fact MD Productions will get a third crack on the live shows. They already appeared on the 2007 and 2009 semi finals, both failed to capture the viewers. About time they let someone else have a go.

Given what we saw last week, you can tell there aren't any decent animal acts this year. Since they've showed all the acts in 15 minutes. Nice to see some illusionists acts getting through though, given I mentioned we didn't see any at the start of the series.

I'd bet you're wondering. Who is going to win the show? At the moment, I will say it's between Attraction and possibly a singing act.

Throughout the semi finals I will be tweeting my Bookie Watch. Where at the half time show (Coronation Street) I will tweet who are likely to get through via the phone vote and who are likely to be in the judges face off.

The Britain's Got Talent Semi Finals will be shown live on Monday (27th May), Tuesday (28th May), Thursday (30th May), Friday (31st May) and Saturday (1st June). There will be a 90 minute performance show followed by a 30 minute results show. Nine acts will be featured per semi final with two going through to the grand final on Saturday 8th June.
